There may be storm clouds a-brewing today, but all signs point to gorgeous weather for Saturday’s third annual Be Well Philly Boot Camp. Weather.com is giving us the all clear (literally) with an 85-degree, sunny-skies prediction, and zero-percent chance of rain. If you’re doing the fitness classes, I’d recommend wearing shorts or capris and a light shirt because you’re going to sweat. Hey, I’ll take it!

And it’s a good thing the weather gods are smiling down on us, since we’ve got outdoor activities galore to keep you moving all day long. Here are the highlights:

Lithe Method’s Walk-Star Outdoor Walking Class @ 10 a.m.

This isn’t your average walk in the park: For this popular Lithe Method class, you’ll head out into University City for a fast-paced power walk that engages your glutes, hamstrings, abdominals and arm muscles with each step. This class will leave from the Registration area, with a bag check to keep your belongings safe while you work out.

Unite Fitness Cross-Training Run @ 11 a.m.

Remember our awesome Cross-training Run with Unite Fitness last fall? We had such a blast that we invited them to do another run at Boot Camp. Runners will meet at the Registration area—don’t worry, we’ll have bag check for you, too—and head out into the neighborhood for a 2.5-mile run, with stops along the way to do some quick circuits: think burpees in a park, walking lunges on the sidewalk, step-ups on a bench. The idea is to give you a total-body workout, while still getting your run in. Genius, right?

All-Day Outdoor Fitness Classes in the Subaru Outdoor Fitness Area

Just like last year, we’re tenting the outdoor area behind the Drexel Rec Center for a day of al fresco, no-registration-needed classes. Each will last about 40 to 45 minutes. Here’s the lineup:

10 a.m.: Red Hot Dance Fitness, a Philly-born dance-fitness workout that features awesome music, fantastic moves and lots of sweat. You’ll have a blast while you burn some serious calories.

11 a.m.: Body Blast Boot Camp with 2013 Be Well Philly Health Hero and personal trainer Leslie Marant. Leslie will lead a total-body workout that uses only your body-weight. An awesome playlist is a given.

12 p.m.: All-levels Vinyasa Yoga with the Yoga Garden’s Mark Nelson. You’ll wind down with a bendy yoga session right before our Empower Hour. Speaking of …

Empower Hour featuring Back On My Feet founder Anne Mahlum @ 1 p.m.

Our Empower Hour is a new addition for Boot Camp this year, and it’s something I’m really excited about. In the spirit of this oh-so-motivating, totally inspiring day for women, we wanted to put some time aside to hear from someone who has an incredible story to share, someone who would inspire us to dream big. So I’m excited that Anne Mahlum, an avid runner and founder of the Philly-based national organization Back On My Feet, which helps homeless people across the country, will be joining us for this end-of-day keynote.

Outdoor Healthy Happy Hour @ 2 p.m.

You didn’t think we make you sit inside for happy hour, did you? After the Boot Camp program wraps, we’ll head to Landmark Americana, which is adjacent to the Rec Center, for a healthy happy hour on their outdoor patio. Skinny Vine will be handing out free pours of three wines and we’ll also have snacks galore nosh on.
