6 Philly Yoga Classes With Killer Soundtracks



I love a quiet, restorative yoga class as much as the next girl. But with the gloomy weather we’ve had this week, I could use something just a bit more upbeat.

It’s no secret that an awesome playlist can take your run or workout to the next level. (We bring you one each Friday!) So why not apply this concept to your yoga sesh?

Below, we sleuthed out six classes in Philly with soundtracks that are sure to kick your energy into high gear. Singing along is highly encouraged.

Funky Fridays Vinyasa 
Where: Yoga Garden Philly, 903 South Street
When: Friday, 5:45 to 7 p.m.
What: Kick-start your weekend with a fun class that's sure to get your heart rate up. The playlist changes every week, so you can expect everything from Britney Spears to James Brown.
Cost: $14

Power Yoga Rocks 
Where: Anjali Power Yoga Philly, 1519 South Street
When: Friday, 6 to 7 p.m.
What: Another Friday night Vinyasa class—this time to classic rock.
Cost: $12

Amplified Infrared Hot Flow
Where: Amrita Yoga and Wellness, 1204 Frankford Ave, Fishtown
When: Sunday, 10:15 to at 11:30 a.m., and Wednesday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
What: Sweat it out in this heated class to an eclectic, alternative mix.
Cost: $13

Hip Hop Vinyasa 
Where: Kaya Aerial Yoga Philadelphia, 225 Quarry Street, Old City
When: Tuesday, 5:15-6:15 p.m.
What: Take on arm balances in a whole new way in this break-dance-inspired class.
Cost: $20

All Levels Power Yoga with Marisa 
Where: Power Yoga Works Philadelphia, 3527 Lancaster Ave, West Philly
When: Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.
What: Marisa’s feel-good mix for this class has a little bit of everything, from The Black Keys to The Beatles to Queen. Try not to sing along. We dare you.
Cost: $12

Where: Maha Yoga Center City, 1700 Sansom St, 6th floor, Center City
When: Multiple days/times throughout the week.
What: These fast-paced, sweaty classes are taught by a variety of instructors, but all of them bring an upbeat playlist that's tons of fun.
Cost: $7, cash only
