Free Crabfries: First Ever Chickie’s & Pete’s 5K This Summer

It’s official: Everyone is getting in on the 5K game this year.

The latest comes by way of Chickie’s & Pete’s, the Philly sports bar famous for its crabfries, which is hosting its first-ever timed 5K race on the Atlantic City boardwalk on August 23rd. It will start and end at the Tropicana Casino—where Chickie’s & Pete’s has a location, natch—and feature live music and a post-race beach party with a beer garden. And get this: Every runner will get a free order of crabfries.

Prizes will be given to overall and age-group winners. It will be capped at 2,000 runners, and organizers are expecting a sell out. Registration is $40 until June 29th, and tiers to $50 by race day. Sign up is happening here.

Update 5/27 at 2:45 p.m.: This post originally stated that a free beer would be included for runners, as outlined on the race website. However, a spokesperson says free beer will not be included after all, although beer will be available for purchase at the finish line. The race website has since been updated to reflect this change.

Update, 6/23 at 1 p.m.: The beer is back on! A race spokesperson told me they’ve worked with local officials and can now offer one free Yuengling Light Lager to all race participants 21 and over. Phew!
