HipCityVeg’s Vegan Bar Charlie Was a Sinner Is On Instagram

HipCityVeg owner Nicole Marquis is opening a new vegan bar in Midtown Village rather imminently—it’s set to debut in a week—and now the restaurant in question, Charlie was a sinner., has joined Instagram, giving the masses a sneak peek of what’s to come.

So far, the posts are pretty opaque—and, um, blurry—but we do get to see what the menu looks like, at least. I’m thinking they’ll be teasing things hard in the next couple of days, so follow them at @charlie_was if you’re dying to know what to expect.

Charlie was a sinner just opened last night on 13th & Sansom. I stopped in this morning after being distracted by the beautiful motif of the bar/cafe/restaurant. Nicole, the young 30-something-year-old owner of the successful HipCity Veg, was warm and told me all about her business. It’s an all vegan tapas, I’m an Omnivore through and through, but she had a healthy portion of supplemental protein tapa style dishes on the menu that were affordable, now that’s something I could get down with. It’s a cozy 20’s Jazz era theme resembling that of New York’s Cotton Club of the time; with bookshelves, bronze statues of women, a beautiful bar that seems to be extricated from some swanky manse, and an inviting 20-foot long tufted sofa that greets you upon entering. The setting has the appeal of those just looking to escape the daily bustle of the Gayborhood, to maybe write or have an intimate conversation. This is quite possibly going to be my new space #cafesquatter
