New Spinning Studio Opening in Fishtown Next Week

There isn’t much to see yet at the soon-to-open Ciclo, a new Spinning studio coming to 2024 Frankford Avenue in Fishtown. But owner Mina Carroll assures me the bikes are on their way, and they’ll be ready to ride by her grand opening on March 8th.

“This weather has been killing me and pushing everything back,” she says. “But I’m really, really excited.”

Carroll, a CPA by day, has been spinning for a decade, but became certified a few years back. Born, raised and still living in Port Richmond, she says she was sick of having to trek to Center City to get her indoor-cycling fix, so she decided to open a studio closer to home. Ciclo is located at the upper end of Fishtown, near Kensington, on Frankford at Susquehanna Avenue.

Once it’s up and running, Ciclo (Italian for “cycle”) will have 16 bikes and five instructors. The class schedule, to start, is surprisingly robust, and Carroll says feedback from students will help her tweak class times so they work for everyone. She’ll have special beginner’s classes to help newbies feel comfortable on the bike.

Ciclo will be a Mad Dogg Athletics-certified studio—they’re the ones who created and trademarked Spinning, capital S—and classes will be $15 each. First rides are free.

The inaugural ride on March 8th is already sold out, but sign up is open for the full schedule. Click “Client Login” at the upper right here to book.
