Race organizers for the Blue Cross Broad Street Run announced this week that they’ve decided to extend the registration-lottery deadline due to the region’s widespread power outages after last week’s storm. As per the announcement, the lottery will now stay open until Saturday, February 15th, at noon. It was set to close this Thursday.

Race director Jim Marino said in a press release, “We are well aware that many of our participants have been dealing with major difficulties relating to the most recent weather issues causing numerous power outages in many regions of the country, especially in the Philadelphia area. …As a courtesy to our loyal running community we are determined to give them every opportunity to take part in this annual Philadelphia tradition to be held on May 4th by extending the deadline to enter the lottery.”

I reached out to the Department of Parks and Recreation, which runs Broad Street, and staffers there confirmed that the date change does not affect when lottery results will be posted. You’ll be able to find out whether or not you’ve made the cut next Tuesday, February 18th.

If you haven’t already, you can enter the lottery here. And get more info on the Broad Street Run here.
