Meet the 2013 Health Hero Finalists!

Last month, readers turned out in droves on our Facebook page to vote for their favorite Health Hero among the 16 semifinalists in this year’s Health Hero Challenge, presented with our partner UnitedHealthcare. Their goal: to vote through the person they think is best helping others in our community lead healthy, happy lives. Our contenders included doctors, nonprofit leaders, personal trainers, coaches and more. Each week, four Health Heroes were up for voting, with the winner from each round—which we’ve kept a secret until now—moving on to the final round of voting this month.

Today, it’s my pleasure to announce the four finalists in this year’s Health Hero Challenge:

Dr. Alberto Esquenazi
Chief medical officer, MossRehab

Phyllis Sudman
Co-founder, Simon’s Fund

Leslie Marant
Co-ambassador for Black Girls Run! Philadelphia and owner of Temple Building Fitness

Jeffrey Brous
Personal trainer and Zumba instructor, Horsham Athletic Club

In this round, you’ll get to know more about our Health Hero finalists, and what they do, as well as which charity cause they’re rep-ing in the final round of voting. The winner of the Health Hero Challenge wins $3,000 to the charity of their choice, so click their names above to find out which ones they’re playing for.

Voting is open right now, and will remain open until October 31st at 5 p.m. You can vote once every 24 hours between now and then, so set an alarm, people.

Good luck to our finalists, and happy voting, readers!
