To Do: Learn How to Twerk at Philly Dance Fitness

This might be Philly's first-ever "twerkshop"

Admit it: Even though you’re totally sick of hearing about the train wreck that is Miley Cyrus, you’re also totally curious about this whole “twerking” thing. Here’s a way to get it out of your system: Philly Dance Fitness is hosting its first ever Twerkshop, a 90-minute twerking workshop on October 6th aimed at getting you to shake your thang while burning some serious calories.

You’ll start out with a basic twerking how-to (get ready to squat and hold, people), during which time instructors Sharice Sloan-El and Maya Sethuraman will break down the move and show you a few variations. Then, you’ll learn dance routines that incorporate the infamous twerk, all the while getting a good burn in your gluteus maximus.

The twerkshop is meant for women and men, but “due to the in-your-face sexual nature of this dance style, this workshop is for adults ages 18 and up,” according to the description. It continues: “Yes, we know that many teens can already twerk better than us, but we’re not going to go there. And this way they also don’t put us to shame.” Truth.
