Tela’s Market and Kitchen Coming to Fairmount

Get a preview with two upcoming pop-up dinners

Heads up, Fairmounters: You’ve got a new market coming in at 19th and Fairmount Avenue, set to open in October. It’s called Tela’s Market & Kitchen and will include, according to a press release, “products from the region’s most trusted farmers, growers, and fishermen.” They’ll also host family-style meals right in the store. Neat, right?

More specifically, you’ll be able to shop for goods that come straight from farms in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, items from Viking Village Seafood and FourBarrel Coffee, and meats from Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors and DeBragga and Spitler. In addition to the fridge-and-pantry-stocking items, the market will sell prepared foods—hot entrées, made-to-order sandwiches, soups, salads and more—for an easy carry-out meals. And they’ll offer breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch menus, too.

For a bit of a preview of coming attractions, Tela’s executive chef Chad Williams will be hosting two pop-up dinners at JG Domestic (2929 Arch Street), one on September 15th and the other on the 29th. They’ll feature three courses served family-style with complimentary beverage pairing. The dinners are capped at 14 people (intimate!), so email Williams ASAP to sign up. He’s at chad.williams@telasmarket.com.
