To Do: Christmas in July 5K

This race slogan says it all: "It's the most wonderful time of the year ... but with warmer weather and beer"

McFadden’s Christmas in July 5K is back on July 24th! In the spirit of the season, racers must come dressed in their holiday finest because who doesn’t love a costume theme, anyway? Word on the street is that there will be costume awards, so be sure to bring your A game. If you want to go the classic route, reindeer, angel and elf are always solid options. Bonus points if you come dressed like this. Or this leg lamp from A Christmas Story. Just a tip: If you’re not into heat stroke, wearing an ugly Christmas sweater in 90-degree weather is not recommended.

The $30 fee covers the cost of the race (on the blacktop adjacent to Citizens Bank Park) and a T-shirt, which will only be given to the good little racers that pre-register, courtesy of Santa. Runners are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots, to help spread the Christmas cheer, of course.

For post-race merriment, expect some heavy boozing. The event is hosted by McFadden’s, after all. Register here.

$30, July 24th at 7 p.m., McFadden’s at Citizens Bank Park, One Citizens Bank Way, Philadelphia.
