To Do: Yoga for Dudes at Maha Yoga

For the basketball-playing, beer-drinking man's man, there's a yoga class for that.

Yoga doesn’t exactly have a reputation for being masculine. Women still dominate most classes, and the emphasis on flexibility traditionally has been a turn off to men. But yoga boasts some amazing benefit (i.e. it decreases stress, may reduce the risk of certain chronic diseases, etc), and can be a godsend by helping reduce the negative effects that years of sports (and no stretching) can wreak on a man’s body. What’s a guy to do?

Luckily, Maha Yoga has designed a workshop series with dudes in mind. The four-class series will tackle some of the challenges that men face with yoga (goal: touch your toes by the end), and build on the advantages, such as a man’s natural strength. It’s yoga minus the spiritual chanting and intimidating pretzel poses. Register here.

$65 for the series, Saturdays July 13th, 20th, 27th, and August 3rd, 5 to 6:15 p.m. Maha Yoga Studio, 1700 Sansom St, 6th Floor, Philadelphia.
