Shake Shack—Yup, the Burgers-and-Milkshakes Joint—Has a New Running Club

Not a joke!

Here are the runners who turned out for Shake Shack's inaugural run!

Well, I can’t say I saw this one coming, but now that it’s arrived, I’m happy it came. Center City’s Shake Shack location launched a new running group this week, aptly called the Shake Shack Track and Field club.

It’s free to participate, and all ages and running abilities are welcome. Runs are 45 minutes to an hour long, and they start and end at 2oth and Sansom outside the restaurant. They’re held at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. This past Tuesday was the inaugural run, so your next chance to get in on the fun is April 9th. The first 50 runners to come out get free T-shirts.

As for why a burger joint wants to host a running club?

“It’s spring, and it’s time to enjoy outside again,” says Allan Ng, Shake Shack Philadelphia area director. “Shack Track and Field was inspired by my passion for running, and I’ve always found it’s a fun way to bring people of all ages together, just like Shake Shack. Several of our Philly team members are also going to lead the bi-monthly runs, which will start and end at our restaurant. After a good run you deserve Shake Shack.”

Hey, he said it.
