The Checkup: Martha Stewart Sickened with Salmonella, Says the Turkeys Did It

Plus: gratuitous adorable cat video because it's Friday. (Do I really need another reason?)

• Maybe it’s just been a long, long week, but for some reason I can’t stop laughing at this Huffington Post headline: “Martha Stewart Sickened Last Month After ‘Handling So Many Turkeys'” Not that salmonella or Martha’s being sickened by it is a laughing matter, but still. The wording there, it’s just … Anyone? Oh, fine. For those wondering, the whole story is this: Martha Stewart was bedridden for several days last month because of a salmonella infection. She told the New York Post’s Page 6: “I never get sick, but I came down with salmonella. I think I caught it because I was handling so many turkeys around Thanksgiving. I was on the ‘Today’ show, I did a number of other [Thanksgiving] appearances. It really hit me hard and I was in bed for days. It was terrible.” Not to put too fine a point on it but in case you’d like a visual, salmonella infections can cause diarrhea and vomiting, abdominal pain, blood in the stool, fever, chills and muscle pains. Yikes. We’re happy to hear Martha’s back on her feet.

Ever wonder how Lululemon’s CEO stays fit and healthy? Fortune magazine wondered, too, and recently found out.

• And, finally, a gratuitous cat-on-a-treadmill video because, well, it’s Friday.
