Paoli Hospital Undergoing $11 Million Maternity Renovation

The new maternity department will feature private patient rooms with special beds to make moms more comfortable.

Paoli Hospital announced last week that it will cough up $11 million to renovate its maternity wing. The changes come in the form of 24 new private patient rooms; 12 labor, delivery and recovery suites; four triage rooms; and a larger nursery and level-II neonatal intensive-care unit, the Philadelphia Business Journal reports. Existing patient rooms will also be renovated.

Besides having private rooms, moms-to-be at Paoli will get to use special beds in the labor and delivery rooms that allow patients to position themselves however they want, making the birthing process more comfortable.

The maternity wing was last updated more than five years ago. Construction is slated for completion in fall 2013.
