Philly’s Sexiest Fitness Classes

From pole dancing to burlesque to naked yoga (for guys!), here are Philly's sexiest ways to get in shape.

Burlesque Fitness
Studio 1831, 1831 Brandywine St., 484-716-8432

Instructors encourage you to bring props like feather boas to this class at Studio 1831. The hourlong session includes choreographed routines that incorporate resistance conditioning and Pilates core training. Classes ($12) are on Tuesday evenings at 6:15.

Frisky Fridays
Philly Dance Fitness, 215-645-2717

Cardio striptease is an event at Philly Dance Fitness. One Friday a month, the studio hosts a ladies-only striptease party called Frisky Fridays. You’ll learn a sexy dance routine, plus have time to socialize, eat snacks, win door prizes and more. The next Frisky Friday, held at Arts Parlor (1100 S. Broad St.), is scheduled for the December 9th from 7 to 9 p.m. Bonus: It includes a chocolate tasting. $15 in advance; $20 at the door.

Belly Dance
Studio 1831, 1831 Brandywine St., 484-716-8432

Fairmount’s Studio 1831 practically has a whole belly dancing program, with programs for beginners to experienced belly dancers throughout the week and a belly dance with props class on Sunday afternoons. The props class teaches students how to incorporate everything from finger symbols to veils to canes. $12 for a single class or $100 for a 10-class card.

Pure Barre
1701 Walnut St., 267-234-7825, and 503 W. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, 484-588-2628

Okay, okay, these classes aren’t inherently sexy, but the results—a ballerina-like body—certainly are. Students learn to use the ballet barre to perform isometric movements that are easier on the joints. Strength moves are followed by stretching to create long, lean—dare we say, sexy?—muscles. $23 per class.

Awakenings Pole Dance Fitness
Fairmount Athletic Club, 499 South Henderson Rd., King of Prussia, and in Manayunk at 4141 Main St., 610-348-7165

You’ll hop on a pole for a workout that combines aerobics, yoga, stretching, dance and strength training, activating muscles you probably didn’t know you had. The studio has classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced pole dancers, as well as all-levels classes. Or you can take it up a notch on the sexy-ometer with an exotic dance class (Fridays at noon at the King of Prussia location and Mondays at 6 p.m. in Manayunk). Have a guy you’d like to bring along? There’s a co-ed pole skills class on Sundays at 3:15 in Manayunk. Other fun classes at that location: Strip-n-Sculpt (Mondays at 6 p.m.), Sexy Stretch (Mondays at noon) and Burlesque (Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays at 1). A trial pole class is $30; a trial dance class is $15.

Red Hot Dance Fitness
Main Line Health and Fitness, 931 Haverford Rd., Bryn Mawr, and at Thrive Pilates, 2016 Walnut Street

It’s like a night at the club, but in a workout studio. Need we say more? $16 per class at Thrive or $15 for a day pass at Main Line Health and Fitness.

Naked Yoga
13th and Walnut

Sure, this class isn’t intended to “to create a sexual venue or to foster erotic energy,” according to the description, but how could we not include it on it this list? This sans-clothing yoga practice is guys only and held every third Tuesday of the month in Center City (you have to register for the class to get the exact address). Registration for the 90-minute practice opens up on the first of the month. This month’s session is on December 20. Sign up here. The class is $15 and you pay at the door.
