Race to raise cash for melanoma research at the Running for Cover 5K this weekend

Run for cover and fuel research for the fastest-growing cancer in the U.S.

As folks flock to the beach and other sun-drenched summer locales, it’s important to remember the number-one concern of the season: melanoma. Despite its status as the fastest-growing form of cancer in the U.S., a lack of funding has stalled research on the disease. The Noreen O’Neill Foundation for Melanoma Research seeks to reverse that with the Running for Cover 5K Run/Walk, held on Sunday, June 26, at the Wells Fargo Center at 9AM. Funds raised from the event will support further research, as well as local education, screening, and treatment programs. You can join a team or run on your own. Just don’t forget your sweat-proof sunblock! – Kathryn Siegel

$20 ($25 on-site), June 26, 7:45AM registration, 9AM start, Wells Fargo Center, 3601 South Broad Street, foundationformelanomaresearch.org.
