Freshii: BWP Taste Test

What I thought of Center City's newest healthy fast-food option

Freshii salad.

I made it over to try Freshii, the new “fast food” spot that opened Monday at the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, today for lunch. I ordered the small spicy lemongrass soup and a make-your-own salad.

The small soup comes with two optional veggies. I chose broccoli and bean sprouts. The soup was bigger than I thought it would be and the bean sprouts, big and meaty, sort of took the place of noodles. The only downside was the saltiness. I’ll be drinking a lot of water this afternoon to get rid of some of that sodium.

I also ordered a make-your-own salad with a spring-mix base ($5.99), a bunch of unlimited (read: free!) veggies like tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, red onion, carrots and celery, all-natural chicken ($2), shaved parmesan cheese ($1), and a half-serving of the light dill dressing.

The ingredients were fresh, portions were very, very generous, and my entire meal was under 350 calories—at least that’s what I tallied up on Freshii’s online nutrition calculator. The soup was only 23  and the salad rang in at 300. Not my favorite salad in the city, but definitely not bad for a fast meal on the go.
