It’s been awhile since we’ve talked travel, Be Wellers! I think my need to roam was temporarily abated thanks to all of the weekends down the Shore and summer weddings, but I’m starting to get tired of the routine I’ve built up: weekends of overindulging and then catch-up (and payback) at the gym all week, and was thinking it might be a good time to reset my habits and start fresh for fall with an inspirational wellness getaway. Sounds like a nice start to a new season. (Especially since skinny jeans appear to be in yet again this fall.)
This September, the stunning La Reserve Ramatuelle in St. Tropez is offering two getaways that are billed as “French-style” boot camps, built around yoga, walks in the Mediterranean countryside and coast, balneotherapy (which is, essentially, water therapy), anti-aging body wraps, and healthy food for five days. Not quite like the boot camp at your gym, eh? The price for the whole thing is 3,600 Euros, which translates to about $4,800. +33 4 94 44 94 44.
I also discovered the Spa Montage (of Laguna Beach, California) offers monthly wellness retreats—and September’s sounds awesome. The Detox Flow program includes morning yoga workshops in the midst of the luxe resort, and ranges from $230 to $530 a person (plus rooms, which start at $680 a night). There are also arranged beach walks, juice tastings, and oceanfront lunches—among other things like massages and hikes, depending on how much you’d like to pay. 949-715-6010.
For slightly less cash, you get quite a lot out of a trip to Red Mountain Resort and Spa in striking St. George, Utah, and find your inspiration among that spare desert beauty. (The rooms here are luxe and lovely—no need to worry about Spartan accommodations.) For $219 per person per night, you get daily guided morning hikes, three healthy meals a day, cooking demos, unlimited fitness classes—or you can pay just a bit more ($289 a night) for specialized weight loss weeks that offer 8 days of training, cooking, and fitness classes and health assessments to set you up for a renewed fitness regime. 877-246-4453.
Sigh. If only I could do all three!
