“Newember” Happy Hour Deals Continue At The Trestle Inn

The Trestle Inn has long been a go-to whiskey bar for the Foobooz World HQ staff and accomplices. Last month, they made drinking here an even more attractive proposition with an oversized regular happy hour, an additional late-night happy hour, plus some nice specials for those making the trek out to Callowhill.

The good news? What was originally a November promotion (called, weirdly, “Newember”) has now been extended into December (probably because the name still technically applies) and beyond. We’ve got all the details below, including on their coffee cocktail–not a hot drink, but still one that comes caffeinated, which is always nice.

Really, Really Fine Dining In Wayne, PA

What do Ian Moroney of Pumpkin, Andrew Deery of Majolica, Ralph Fernandez of Autograph and Peter Gilmore of Gilmore’s all have in common? His name is Alex Hardy, and he’s the executive chef of a new restaurant called At the Table. On November 16th, he and his wife Tara Buzan opened this 20-seat restaurant in the heart of Wayne, PA.

“We wanted to bring really, really fine dining to the area,” said Alex.

Before Alex was an executive chef, before he worked with some of the best chefs in the country, before he attended Johnson and Wales University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts, he worked as a dishwasher. “In going through the process of my career it’s very important to know–to some degree–all the elements of a restaurant,” he said. “You have to know how things go together–the flavors, the balance, the presentation.”

Heritage Presents First FRYday on First Friday

first-fryyay-heritage-400We didn’t think that First Friday, Philadelphia’s monthly celebration of art and artists needed revision. But we thoroughly appreciate Heritage’s addition this month of Sly Fox Beer specials and fried food cooked by chef Sean Magee. The event at the Norther Liberties restaurant will include live jazz music, a mellow dinner jazz session by Tom Moon’s Love Room and a classic soul, funk and jazz session by The Sermon!

There will also be the chance to browse and buy artwork from featured InLiquid artists. Featured artists include Brendan McAtamney, who makes wooden bowls with stock lumber and salvaged wood, Sandra Tarcov who specializes in hand-woven beadwork and Matthew Hall who makes whiskey drawings.

A Mexican bao bun? It’s happening this week in Manayunk.

Have you ever felt like your burrito needed more noodles? Or your ramen needed more tortilla chips? Neither have we, nonetheless we’re intrigued by the pop-up Taqueria Feliz has planned. The Manayunk Mexican restaurant is hosting a ramen pop-up. Mexican-Asian fusion might sound weird but we’re willing to give dishes like Ramen Poblano a try.

And the Main Street bar will also be well stocked with Sapporo Pilsner and Black Raspberry “Sake-Ritas.”
