Ticket Alert: Ray Davies and the Fake Gn'R

My sister-in-law just picked the name "Lola" for her forthcoming child. It's a name that was once much more popular than it has been in recent years, and its decline might be due to the song by the same name, written by Ray Davies and performed by his Kinks. You know, the song the "woman" who "walked like a woman and talked like a man." My sister-in-law was unfamiliar with the tune when I brought it to her attention, so she probably won't be in attendance at the Borgata on December 5th, when the incomparable Davies takes the stage. $39.50. On sale this Saturday, 10 a.m.

One day, when my kids are grown and gone, crazy old Axl Rose will finally get around to releasing Chinese Democracy, the Guns n' Roses album that has been in the works for a decade. There have actually been rumblings this week that Democracy might actually see the light of day before the end of the year. But we've heard that one many, many times before. In the meantime, all we have is Appetite for Destruction, the country's premiere Guns n' Roses tribute band. They'll be at the TLA on December 5th with Back In Black (hopefully it is obvious to you that this is an AC/DC tribute), and $12 tickets go on sale this Friday at noon. Trick or treat!

GnR Reunion
Posted by ReginaGarber | Dec. 13, 2008 at 10:09 AM
COMMENT:
I am not convinced that a reunion of original members, including Axl, will not happen in this lifetime. They could have been the next band to cross over the decades, like Aerosmith but much bigger. Years ago I was convinced the Axl would be our generations Jim Morrison...GnR would continue to tour into the millenium and Axl would die a tragic, drug induced death but leave a legacy for many years. Disappointed how things turned out but I plan to be front and center (with a photo press pass:-) when the original GnR does a reunion tour. Welcome to the jungle...
