Do This Now: Build a Boat!
In two weekends, you can learn how to build your own boat
By Victor Fiorillo
Sure, you could sign up for ASL classes at the Main Line Night School or the Bryn Mawr Film Institute's Film Education series, but far more out of
left field for a wintertime activity is the Independence Seaport Museum's
hands-on boatbuilding seminar. If you can spare two weekends and $300, you
can learn what it takes to construct your own seafaring vessel, from making
unsinkable plans to planking and something called "spar-making". Class size is limited (and obviously so many people have been chomping at the bit to learn how to build their own boat) so register now.
