Jammin' With the Captain

The mother of all Philly concerts docks on the waterfront

This weekend, in its 22nd year of set changes, sunburns and hangovers, Jam on the River continues to summon upwards of 20,000 jammers from the region and afar. The two-day annual festival at the waterfront — comprising an eclectic arrangement of sounds and an assortment of Philly food favorites — kicks summer off right. Known as a local rendition of Tennessee's Bonnaroo, the Captain Morgan–sponsored event features music from jam bands like Disco Biscuits, Soundtribe Sector Nine, Common and the John Butler Trio. The festival may mark the start of the summer season at Penn's Landing, but it doesn't end when the sun goes down. Follow the "jam-tronica" sound of STS9 and U Penn's Disco Biscuits to the Electric Factory for additional evening shows this Saturday and Sunday.

May 26th and 27th, 1 p.m., $39.50 for one day and $70 for two-day pass, Great Plaza at Penn's Landing between Market and Walnut streets; electricfactory.com
