Not a day has passed lately without someone around here stopping by my office to comment on the latest scent wafting from it:

"Coconuts?" they guess.

"Smells like the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas!" they say.

"Are you drinking bay breezes in there?" they wonder.

They're all close — sort of. The scent is actually Creed's new Virgin Island Water, a subtle, unisex fragrance that the smells like beach vacations and oceanside massages and everything that's right with summer. And so even on the days I don't wear a fragrance, I still shpritz my office with the stuff, as an antidote to the snow and cold and winds outside.

$185 at Neiman Marcus, starting in April; The Plaza at King of Prussia, 610-354-0500. A portion of all U.S. proceeds will benefit the National Resources Defense Council.
