Quirk Books created a monster this spring with surprise best-seller Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which turned Jane Austen’s Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy into hunters of the undead. Now the Old City imprint is being inundated with follow-up ideas for creepy classics, including The Brothers Karazombie, A Farewell to Arms and Legs, Uncle Tom’s Coffin, A Zombie in the Rye and As I Lay Bleeding. “Four people sent me Wuthering Heights With Werewolves,” says Jason Rekulak, Quirk’s editorial director. Just out is the second Quirk Classics paperback, Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. An “heirloom” hardcover edition of P&P&Z is on the way next month.
