SPLIT SIDES
The Second City
Chicago’s Second City — the sketch-comedy group that birthed the likes of Tina Fey, Steve Carrell and Bill Murray — teams up with some of Philadelphia’s funniest talent for songs, improv and general buffoonery about the city we call home (7/8-26, Suzanne Roberts Theatre, philadelphiatheatrecompany.org).

LITERACY
Chestnut Hill Book Festival
If you still haven’t filled your summer reading list, don’t miss Chestnut Hill’s first annual book fest, with 50-plus (mostly) local authors, including Philly Mag contributor Buzz Bissinger, author of Friday Night Lights (7/10-12, Germantown Avenue, chestnuthillpa.com).

CONCERTS
Nice Pairs
Because one legend just isn’t enough, we give you: Billy Joel with Elton (7/30 and 8/1, Citizens Bank Park), Herbie Hancock with Lang Lang (7/30, Mann Center), Daryl Hall with — who else? — John Oates (7/31, Borgata), and Bob Dylan with Willie Nelson in … Allentown? Hey, it’s only an hour away (7/14, Coca-Cola Park).

MISDIRECTION
Hocus-Pocus
What, you didn’t know there’s a full-fledged magic venue in Old City? See conjurers, deceivers and grand illusionists at the new Grasso’s Magic Theatre on Callowhill (Sundays in July, grassosmagictheatre.com). Elsewhere, Reno favorites Kalin and Jinger — who once made a 747 vanish onstage — evoke wonderment at Trump Plaza (through 9/6, bestmagicshow.com), while the Gustafons bring their “Amazing World of Magic” to Bristol Riverside Theatre (through 7/5, brtstage.org). Alakazam!

OUTDOORS
Out On A Limb
You’ve probably seen the 92 acres of arboreal loveliness that are Morris Arboretum (and if you haven’t, shame on you!), but you’ve certainly never seen them from 50 feet up in the air. The new, permanent treetop installation Out On a Limb: A Tree Adventure debuts July 4th (morrisarboretum.com).
