The Sock That Roared

By A.J. Daulerio

As if he needed more publicity, Inky and ESPN loudmouth Stephen A. Smith is now immortalized on YouTube. Shot by three guys from New York, a seven-minute video (close to 90,000 views to date) titled “Stephen A. Smith Heckled at the 2007 NBA Draft” features a brown sock puppet (dubbed “Lil’ SAS”) impersonating Smith’s strident, Plymouth-Rock-landed-on-us! cadence.

Responding via e-mail, Smith simply said that his media profile “automatically places me in the unenviable position of receiving all types of attention.” And just to clarify, he didn’t respond in all caps.
