As our gardener Carlos would say, it is absolutamente congelación here, and that means it’s time for us to follow our fellow Main Liners to Palm Beach. The big event on our calendar is the annual gala for Palm Beach Friends of Magen David Adom, the Israeli Red Cross, which will be held at the Breakers and is co-chaired by the delightful Robbi Toll, wife of real estate honcho Bruce. (I have forbidden Edgar to bring up the housing market.) The entertainment will be by the singer Jon ­Secada, who our daughter Maine assures us was a big star in the 1980s. … Before we go, we’ll be at the Orchestra’s annual Anniversary Concert and Ball, hosted by the boisterous newsman Chris Matthews, who we hope will manage to stop talking during the performance. First will be a concert by yet another big 1980s singer, Billy Joel, followed by a yummy dinner of tuna and tenderloin. Due at our table: Ruth and Ray Perelman, along with Dorrance Hamilton, an Uptown Girl if ever there was one. …
