If Seinfeld and Arrested Development gave birth to a love child, it would be It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Now in its third season, the FX sitcom, created by Philly’s Rob McElhenney, centers on the absurd shenanigans (They find a dumpster baby! They scam welfare! They try out for the Eagles!) of four friends and Frank (a lovably bizarre Danny DeVito), the estranged father of two of them. Sharply written, ­Sunny nods both visually and verbally to Philly, often filming in and around the city, even dropping in random Main Line references. What makes the show a must-see isn’t its zany plots so much as the comic synergy of the cast — it feels more like a home movie of a dysfunctional family than lowbrow Two and a Half Men-style pap. A
