It's A Hard Knox Life

By Jason Fagone

Ask businessman Tom Knox (right) who he likes in the 2007 mayoral race, and he says, simply, "Well, I like me." And why not? Knox was a deputy mayor under Ed Rendell, so he's got political experience. He was Rendell's finance chairman, so he's got connections, plus a career's worth of business experience. (Most recently, he owned Fidelity Insurance Group.) All he's missing is name recognition -- but that's where his personal fortune of between $50 million and $100 million comes in. "I've got all this money," he says. "I might as well use it."
