The Mix: Heat Wave

Summer in Philly means three solid months of hair-wrecking humidity that requires more than a deep-conditioning treatment to keep locks in line. We’ve found the latest in serious salon frizz-fighting techniques—for curls that need unwinding, to highlighted locks that need soothing—that make those harsh, body-zapping Japanese treatments seem so passé. Go ahead, spend summer outside.

You’ve Got: Any type of misbehavin’ hair.
You Need: Keratin Complex Defrizz.
The 411: An all-natural cream is fused to hair via flatiron and slowly fades away, meaning no kinky root regrowth.
Maintenance: Every three to five months is ideal.
Price: $250.
Book It: Richard Nicholas Hair Studio, 1716 Sansom Street, 215-567-4790, richardnicholas.com, and Bernard’s Salon & Day Spa, 100 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, 856-795-1707, bernardssalon.com.

You’ve Got: Color-treated tresses.
You Need: Silk Organics Extreme MakeOver.
The 411: The three-step treatment works on already processed hair to lock out frizz-inducing humidity and lock in essential moisture, so hair stays soft. Bonus: Drying time is cut in half.
Maintenance: Plan on root touch-ups every three to four months. Price: $150.
Book It: Rosa Martinez for Studio Artur and Studio CL.

You’ve Got: Damaged locks.
You Need: Caribbean Dream rizz Killer.
The 411: This delicate cream calms fragile hair and protects from future damage. Wavy and straight hair will be out-of-the-shower smooth.
Maintenance: Follow up with treatments every three to six months.
Price: $150.
Book It: Millennium Hair & Day Spa, Wynnewood Shopping Center, 50 East Wynnewood Road, Wynnewood, 610-649-4977, millenniumhairanddayspa.com.

You’ve Got: Naturally tight, unruly curls.
You Need: Caribbean Dream Hair Tamer.
The 411: This formaldehyde-free lotion removes 50 to 80 percent of the curl, creating soft, beachy waves.
Maintenance: Root touch-ups can stretch as long as six months.
Price: Starts at $250.
Book It: Cuz’n Company Salon and Spa, Pilgrim Gardens Shopping Center, 1047 Pontiac Road, Drexel Hill, 610-449-1314, cuzncosalonspa.com.
