I don’t know about you, but about this time each summer, I feel like the season begins to lose just a little of its sparkle. Those breezy, lazy days have sort of morphed into long, slow, hazy ones, and while I’m not really ready for fall to swoop in, I am ready to shake things up a bit.
So I perked up when I heard about Loews Hotels’ “Recessionista Respite” packages in cities across the country — especially the New Orleans offer. That deal includes a two-night stay in a double-queen grand room, champagne, beads and boas upon arrival, a $100 credit toward the hotel’s lovely spa, $10 of chips to Harrah’s casino, dinner at the hotel’s café, $40 toward hurricanes at the French Quarter’s Pat O’Brien’s and beignets at Café du Monde — all for $849, for double occupancy (through September 5th).
And if all that deep South sounds a little too steamy for your taste, you might consider instead the San Diego Loews Coronado Bay Resort, where for $399 a night, you’ll get a double occupancy room, a $200 spa credit and a $100 food/beverage credit. Doesn’t that sound like a heavenly little break?
