The Great Mike Vick will get it done.

Despite all the wishful thinking, Vick will never be anything than what he is. Eagles coaches can hope and spin and whatever but if you have eyes you can see Vick doesn’t have it. Foles has shown more intuitive QB ability in 4 preseason games than Vick has shown in his life. Hoping for the Foles era to start as soon as game 1.

I still wonder if Vick is over thinking things since Foles has looked good with much less experience. I dunno. Hard to tell in just seven or so plays.

Hands down Vick is a better QB since coming on board with the Eagles. Yes, it is a good observation that the majority of his injuries take place while in the pocket. It tries to debunk the myth that Vick gets hurt while scrambling OUT of the pocket. Here’s the thing, EVERY hit Vick takes, injury laden hit or not, in or out of the pocket, takes a toll on his body. Eagles can ill-afford their franchise QB to take hits on a consistent basis, what good is a franchise QB if he’s sitting on the bench. I’m hopeful that Vick is learning to ‘feel’ the rush, and can just learn to slide a bit more, as to preserve the season.

All great points, but the three biggest Vick issues for me are 1) Can he make consistently good decisions when things break badly? (throw it away!) 2) Is he tough enough to continue to play in a *real* game with these relatively minor injuries (bruised thumb and ribs)? and 3) what will happen when the inevitable cheap shots happen (after a throw or on the sideline)? The replacement refs may have a role in this.

Hey Pete, I should have addressed the decision making thing, good point. It’s amazing how he good he looked in 2010 with decision making, contrast that with 2011 and it was just a disaster, the interceptions killed drives and forced the D to get back on the field. 2) I think in the regular season you have to tough those things out, take off a series or two for x-rays, hope they are negative then strap on helmet and get back on field. 3) I think replacement refs will be all over the cheap shots, i think these guys are looking for any excuses to throw a flag :) but who knows.
