Running the football is probably the only skill in the NFL at which a rookie can reasonably be expected to excel. Playing RB involves more than just lugging the rock, but Brown might be a pleasant surprise.

  • unhinged

It would be cool if the Eagles ran twice for every pass in this game. I know it violates AR’s philosophy, but it would be interesting to see, and it might be a great set-up for game 2.

Sheil and Tim – Great coverage of the Eagles here. Let’s see what the Birds can do with a full year of OTAs and Training Camp. With the addional talent on the D, the offense just needs to move the chains and become more consistent in the red zone. Andy might be smart to run the ball with the lead given Lewis’s improvment and the addition of Brown and Polk. It might keep Vick a chance to stay healthy. did not match any entries

I’m totally digging this kid, I got nothing but respect. I had a good feeling we scored big in the 7th round. I hope he becomes an absolute beast and him and McCoy are a 2 headed Goliath, Slash and Dash v2.0

  • Norman Buntz

He’s a finely tuned athlete, right? He’ll learn fast how to pass block. It’s not nuclear physics. I see big things eventually from Bryce Brown. Excellent gamble on the draft pick.

I expect more running with all the talent they have back there, and it shd cut down on the time the D is on the field and keep them fresher. Using Brown will keep McCoy fresher too. Early in the season, this makes sense.

I hope they use Polk in short yardage situations.

And the less chances for Vick getting hurt

  • ICDogg

Will he even be activated? I wonder.

IMO he’s going to get more opportunities than Lewis

and the sooner that happens the better. Trade lewis and roll with a three headed monster of Shady, Brown, Polk and some Haveli mixed in for good measure.

        • http://twitter.com/MykeLane Michael Lane

In that scenario I’d still much rather trade Polk and have a true replacement/backup for mccoy than a player similar to brown.

          • xlGmanlx

Polk is a different style of runner. I agree with some NFL analysts (former players) that think Shady needs a thumper as a chance of pace back. Brown is Shady .5, so you need some one to ram down a defense in the 1/3 QTR’s so shady is fresh for the end of the halves.

Can’t wait to see this guy in action!!!

As great as Dion played in the pre-season the coachs having the confidence in Bryce is very encouraging. he has 3 gears which is rare to find. He hits the hole hard, yet smooth, runs downhill, and has incredible balance. The only thing u could argue is his vision and pad level isnt as good as ud like but with experience and watching shady on film (who has incredible vision) will def help him come into his own. I see a lot of Correll Buckhalter in Bryce who had the potential to have been better than Westbrook if it wasn’t for his constant knee injuries.

    • eaglesanch

Buckhalter was talented I agree, but Westbrook was the man.

“I guess that’s a compliment, right?” he said.

That makes me feel old. I was just a kid, but I remember Bo Jackson’ last game vividly on MNF.

Someone needs to get Brown a copy of the NES Tecmo Super Bowl.
