Not saying it’s an elite comparison or anything, but journeyman Colts QB Drew Stanton didn’t look so hot against the Steelers 2nd/3rd string last night. I still have concerns about Foles consistency when it comes to accuracy, but I think his performance presents a case for cautious optimism, at least.
Kafka is not cut out for the NFL. He doesn’t have the arm to get the ball deep, and obviously can be flustered pretty easily by pressure. The only time he’s looked relatively competent is on 5-12 yard patterns. Not gonna cut it. Considering there are 4 rookie QBs actually starting game 1 this season (maybe 5, depending on what Pete Carroll thinks about Matt Flynn the rest of the way), With even a decent performance tonight, I’m ready to see Foles as Vick’s primary backup; there’s just nothing there with Kafka.
