Top Hospitals Wound Care

Not all that long ago, there weren’t many options for patients with chronic wounds that wouldn’t heal, whether because of diabetes, blood or circulation disorders, weight gain, skin diseases, post-surgical complications or medication reactions. A major breakthrough in wound healing was the development of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Patients are put inside a pressurized chamber where they inhale pure oxygen that increases the amount sent flowing through the body and into the tissues, activating white blood cells and hastening healing. Such chambers have revolutionized wound care and supplement traditional treatments like surgery, grafts, infection control, compression bandages and medicated dressings. All are offered at these centers:

The Crozer-Keystone Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine, 301 West 15th Street, Chester, 610-619-8400, woundhealing.crozer.org.

Paoli Wound Healing Center, 225 West Lancaster Avenue, building III, Paoli, 610-648-1212, mainlinehealth.org/ph.

Wound Healing Center of Bryn Mawr Hospital, 130 South Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bryn Mawr, 610-526-8820, mainlinehealth.org/bm.
