65 Great Philly Coffee Shops

It isn’t the coffee that’s hot in Philly right now; it’s the coffee shop. In South Jersey strip malls and still-quiet corners of the city’s up-and-coming neighborhoods, dozens of new independently owned cafes are serving up caffeine and community — a brave business plan in a region with more than 125 Starbucks, 300-plus Dunkin’ Donuts, and a Wawa on every corner.

So where to grab a cuppa? See our 65 top picks here. And then e-mail us to tell us your favorite — you may see in a future update of our list!

Reporting by Carrie Denny, Tim Haas, Lauren McCutcheon, Ashley Primis, Amy Strauss and April White.

I was reading this month's magazine and i noticed that you skipped over the Funky Lil Kitchen. I read your magazine every month and it appears to me that you always skip over this fine gem of Pottstown. It is my favorite restaurant and the food is delicious . Why no publicity for the FLK? I don't understand.

Twenty Two Gallery Cafe hasn't been a cafe for months now. It's totally devoted to being a gallery.

COMMENT:
3 Sisters Corner Cafe is located in Fox Chase on the square across the street from Moonstruck Restaurant in the center of Fox Chase. Serve Ellis coffee, carry LeBus panini bread, cc cookies, home made soups, home made dressings for salads, all homemade cakes, pies, quiches, frittatas, homemade chocolate mousse pie - wonderful spot at the corner of Lones & Barnes Streets (can't miss it with its Victorian decor and red and white awning). Aditi Roy did "Let's do lunch" there and raved about it. Best homemade chicken salad in town as well as their specialty "The Madeleine Cookie"
