Great Eastern State Break Out 5K, October 10, 2009
Those guys from Prison Break have nothing on you!  This 5K Road Race goes through Fairmont and Historic Girard College.  The event raises money for Police Survivors Fund and FESPP.

Time: Registration 7:45 a.m.; Start 8:45 a.m.

Women’s Distance Festival 5K Run/Walk, October 10, 2009
The Women’s Distance Festival was created in 1979 by the Road Runners Club of America to bring attention to the lack of distance running events for women in the Olympic Games. Today, RRCA-affiliated running clubs hold Women Distance Festival events nationwide to promote women’s running at any age.  You might even find marathoner/meteorologist Cecily Tynan running alongside you—she’ll also be at the starting line this year.

Knights of Columbus 5K Charity Race, October 10, 2009
Join the Knights of Columbus on Saturday, October 10th, for a 5K Charity race benefiting BARC, a non-profit organization that provides services for 900 men, women, and children with developmental disabilities; the Archangel Academy, an Archdiocesan School dedicated to teaching children who have developmental and cognitive disabilities; and Council Home Loan. The first 500 participants receive a free t-shirt.

Newtown Library Company 5K & Kids Fun Run, October 10, 2009
The Newtown Library Company will host a 5K and Kids Fun Run to raise money to increase the young-adult science section in the historic library. The 5K Run will start at Brian Gregg Park on North Chancellor Street in Newtown.

Time: Registration & packet pick-up begins at 8 a.m.; Kids’ Fun Run starts at 9 a.m.; 5K starts at 9:30 a.m.

Delaware County Run for Heroes

In its nine years running, Delaware County Run for Heroes has raised $209,000 for the children of police, firemen, or emergency responders who have died in the line of duty. The race is a fast and fun course through Springfield Township.
