YOUR PROBLEM: THE MEDS AREN’T CUTTING IT

[sidebar]THE ALLERGIST: Albert Rohr, MD, Bryn Mawr Hospital, specializing in allergy and drug allergy

HIS GAME PLAN: While Dr. Rohr helps patients manage allergies with precise prescription and over-the-counter meds, he also promotes hands-on barriers to the allergens causing your symptoms. For those who refuse to give up gardening, Dr. Rohr suggests wearing a dust mask or respirator, similar to the ones construction workers buy in bulk from Home Depot, to seal out pollen. “Despite what the neighbors may think of you, when you’re cutting grass there is not much else you can do to control Mother Nature.” Apply the same principles inside your house: run the air-conditioning to filter the air and resist the temptation to open the windows.

HIS BACKGROUND: After suffering from allergies himself, Dr. Rohr graduated from the University of Texas School of Medicine and became board-certified in internal medicine at University of Pennsylvania’s Presbyterian Hospital before he became board-certified in Allergy and immuniology at UCLA School of Medicine. He moved to Philly in 1991, after spending eight years practicing in Los Angeles.

WAITING ROOM STATS: Dr. Rohr sees up to 25 patients each day, so don’t give up hope when you are trying to schedule a same-day or next day appointment.
