Your holiday weekends just got a little warmer.

Center City is never going to be Paris. We all know that. But the crew at a.kitchen and a.bar are doing their best to lend a bit of Parisian holiday charm to Rittenhouse Square with their new weekend crepes and cocoa sidewalk pop-up.

A.kitchen has those outdoor tables along 18th Street. It being winter, there’s just not much to do with them on most days. But chef Eli Collins and his team figured that if they turned the heaters all the way up and offered crepes, hot cocoa and mulled wine to the crowds of families, neighbors and holiday shoppers passing by, people might stop and linger a little while.

And I think they’re right. The crepe-and-cocoa deal will be running every Saturday in December, from 11am to 4pm. The kitchen will be offering a rotating menu of both sweet and savory crepes. For the first Saturday (December 2nd), they’ll be doing Nutella with caramel and cocoa nib crunch for those with a sweet tooth and ham with onions and smoked Mornay sauce for those who want something a bit more substantial. There will always be hot cocoa available, and also mulled wine if you like your warm-up to come with a little buzz. Even better? They’re offering the menu for eat-in or take-away, and walking around Rittenhouse with a warm crepe and a hot cocoa in hand sounds just delightful.
