Two More Beer Gardens For You To Visit This Weekend

Okay, now we're just getting spoiled...

Seriously, I know that people like drinking outside and that, for years, we had to fight just to see one or two beer gardens open for the summer. But now it seems like these things are opening/popping up/changing location every weekend, and pretty soon we’re going to get to the point where there’s one on every block.

Not saying this is a bad thing, just… Man, how things have changed.

Anyway, there are two new beer gardens for you to explore this weekend. And the first one also comes with sushi.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, chef Zama Tanaka of Zama and CoZara will be bringing some Japanese izakaya food to the Parks On Tap beer garden at the Shofuso Japanese House in Fairmount Park (that’s it in that picture above). He going to be bringing three kinds of temaki hand rolls (sesame salmon, spicy crunchy tuna and vegetable), fried chicken skin with CoZara’s housemade green sriracha, plus some Sapporo and sake sangria to wash them down. He’ll start serving at 5pm, and the regular Parks On Tap menu (and beers) will also be available.

Interested? Check out the Parks On Tap page for more details.

Fried chicken skin not really your thing? Ok, that’s fine. More for me. But if you’re looking for something to do in Fishtown this weekend, guess what? The neighborhood is about to get another beer garden.

Yup, the Evil Genius Brew Garden is at 1730 North Front Street and it is opening tonight with “Music Under The El” and, of course, beer. Proceeds from tonight’s opening night party will benefit the Fishtown Neighborhood Association, but the Evil Genius beer garden is going to be up and running through October with a full schedule of activities and events. Too many, actually, to list here.

Good thing those guys put together a flyer then, huh?

Wow. That’s a LOT of stuff planned for one summer. And I’ll bet there’s going to be some drinking to do, too.
