Isabella Introduces New Mediterranean Menu (And Another New Chef)

Neighborhood friendly restaurant launches new menu created by new chef, Denise Gesek

Conshohocken’s neighborhood restaurant, Isabella, has been through a lot of changes recently with new menus, new chefs and new culinary influences. And now they’re doing it again, with chef Denise Gesek being brought in to replace Clark Gilbert, and a new, tapas/small plates being put in place of Gilbert’s French/Italian influence.

Gesek is a vet of several Philly and Boston kitchens, and she’s re-doing Isabella’s menu to concentrate on “traditional Spanish Tapas and Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist.”

The new menu offers a selection of “Charcuteria y Queso’s,” “Cocas” (Flatbreads), “Tapas,” “Sopa y Ensaladas” (Soup and Salads), “Mariscos,” “Carne,” “Platos & Mixtos” (Mixed Plates), and “El Entremes” (Side Dishes). So think ahi tuna ceviche in lime juice, chili pepper and cilantro, tossed with avocado, tomato, onion and mango, or grilled langostino (Mediterranean shrimp) served over saffron rice with chili pepper oil.

It’s a nice looking plate. Check it out.

The restaurant also features cocktails, happy hour specials, some kind of yoga deal, a late-night happy hour, and is working on a new lunch and dessert menu, too. Private dining events are offered with the option of a buffet menu. They’re also hosting cocktail parties and private events in their “loft” area so, you know, if you’ve got 75 friends and are looking for a place to hang out in Conshy, now you’ve got someone to call.
