Supper Is Closing

Some late-breaking news just coming into Foobooz World HQ this afternoon. It looks like Supper–Mitch Prensky’s dedicated farm-to-table restaurant on South Street–is closing down after eight-and-a-half years following dinner service next Friday.

From what we hear, the lease is up and Prensky and his wife Jennifer are shutting down in order to focus attention on their other projects–namely Scratch Biscuits and their catering company, Global Dish. They announced the closure in a letter to their friends and fans.

Dear Supper Friends and Family…

We are writing to announce the closure of Supper at the end of this month. Our lease is up and we have made the very difficult decision to move on. Through our journey over the past 8 ½ years we have had the distinct pleasure of meeting, serving and taking care of some of the greatest people ever; our customers. The friendships that we have made through this experience, whether it be our coworkers, customers, clients, farmers, food writers, interested food lovers, charity organizers, what have you, will last a lifetime.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who ever cared about Supper. We are humbled and grateful that so many people over the past decade have appreciated what we do here.

We will be open through October 9th for a la carte service and then we will be open for private events only throughout the rest of the month and into the beginning of November. That all said, we would love to see you! Stop by to say hi and eat dinner or have a cocktail with us throughout the next weeks!

Supper has become so much over the past 8 ½ years of it’s life and we are grateful to have been recognized amongst Philadelphia’s finer dining establishments. We have had the distinct honor of being recognized as a Three Bell, Three Time Top 50, Four Time Best of Philly restaurant. We have received recognition on a national level from The New York Times, James Beard Foundation, Food Network, Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Food and Wine and Plate Magazine to name a few. Everything we set out to achieve (and much more) with this little mom and pop restaurant has become a reality for us and we feel very satisfied and grateful moving forward.

Our immediate and future plans are to focus on Globaldish Caterers, Inc (Globaldish corporate catering) and our newest venture, Scratch Biscuits. We have a variety of consulting projects in our pipeline as well and I hope that you will hear about them soon.

If anyone misses their Supper experience, worry not, we would be honored to bring it to your home, wherever you are!

Thank you a million times over for giving us the opportunity to serve you here at Supper.

Onward and upward.

Love,

Mitch and Jen
