Taste Of The Nation Is Back On May 3: Tonight, Chefs Behind Bars

The No Kid Hungry charity will take place at the Loews Hotel this year.

Philadelphia’s Taste of the Nation, sponsored by No Kid Hungry, is back this year at the Loews Hotel on May 3. The huge event will feature over 40 different restaurants whipping up some food and drinks for the attendees.

Tickets to the event are $95 per person and $145 for VIP, which includes an extra hour prior to the event for tastings. The event starts at 6 p.m. (5 p.m. for VIP holders) and ends at 8 p.m.

Restaurants attending include Townsend, Vernick Food + Drink and Helm, along with a.kitchen, Olde Bar and Brick & Mortar mixing up specialty cocktails.

In addition to Taste of the Nation, No Kids Hungry is also hosting Chefs Behind Bars Happy Hour Series. Chefs hang up their aprons and instead focus on a different type of ingredient: liquer. The last part of the series will be this Monday, April 27 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jerry’s Bar in Northern Liberties.

The chefs of honor at tonights happy hour are Jason Cichonski of Ela and Gaslight and Scott Schroeder of South Philadelphia Taproom and American Sardine Bar. The entrance is a $15 donation, 100 percent of which goes directly to the No Kids Hungry Foundation, which gets you a complimentary cocktail made with Philadelphia Distilling Bluecoat Barrel Gin and a meet and greet with the chefs.
