Drunk History‘s Derek Waters at Geno’s Steaks

Series creator was in town Saturday to tape a segment.

Derek Waters (left), a creator of Drunk History on Comedy Central, stopped by Geno’s Steaks in South Philly on Saturday evening to tape a segment. Drunk History features drunken historical narratives delivered by celebrities who have been drinking.

Waters has been traveling the East Coast for the past couple weeks visiting NYC and his hometown of Baltimore for future episodes, which will air in June. At Geno’s a tipsy Derek asked longtime employee Jeffrey Beres (right) about the history of the Cheesesteak, the feud over who has the best steak in Philly, which celebrities have come to Geno’s, Philadelphia sports teams and their devoted fans.

I spoke to Waters after the filming; he told me that he’s had cheesesteaks before, but never one as delicious as Geno’s. And then he took an order to go. Next up that night was a stop at McGillin’s on Drury Street, followed by a Sunday run up the Rocky Steps.
