Kelly: ‘We’re From Philadelphia And We Fight’

Give Chip Kelly credit for consistency.

He was first asked last Monday about the notion of resting some starters against the Bears if the NFC East title wasn’t at stake. But Kelly maintained all along that he would play his guys. And that’s what he did.

The Cowboys beat the Redskins earlier in the day, ensuring that next weekend’s matchup would decide the division. But Kelly played his starters until the game was out of hand in the fourth quarter.

Asked why he chose that strategy, Kelly offered a response that is sure to appease the fan base.

“Very simply, we’re from Philadelphia and we fight,” he said. “That’s it. If there’s a game on, we’re playing. End of story.

“If we’re gonna line up and kick off, you tell us what time to show up and we’ll be there.”

Next up is the Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. Sunday in Dallas. Kelly and his team will be there with a shot to win the NFC East and host a home playoff game in a couple weeks.
