Making Sense Of the Eagles’ Inactives

The following Eagles are inactive for today’s game against the Giants: quarterback Matt Barkley, safety Patrick Chung, cornerback Shaun Prater, offensive tackle Matt Tobin, offensive tackle Dennis Kelly, defensive lineman Damion Square and tight end Emil Igwenagu.

The big name there is Chung. He’s been dealing with a shoulder injury and was listed as questionable. Chung missed last week’s game against the Broncos also.

That means rookie Earl Wolff will make his second career start alongside Nate Allen. Wolff made his share of mistakes last week, but was going up against Peyton Manning.

No surprises among the other names. The Eagles have gone with two quarterbacks in each of their first five games.

The backup offensive linemen are Allen Barbre (G/T) and Julian Vandervelde (center).

Vinny Curry is active for the third straight game after sitting out the first two. But he didn’t play last week until late in the third quarter.
